A B-18 Bolo, one of only five remaining in the world, at the Wings Over the Rockies Museum at the former Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO.
This plane was sold by the US government in 1944 and was used in civilian service, largely in Cuba. It was seized in Florida by US Treasury Agents in 1958 when it was found transporting guns to Fidel Castro’s regime.
Edited with snapseed and painteresque.

I stopped by what was formerly and conveniently known as Jeffco Airport to try and get a better look at the planes. As I expected, there were fewer people around. Unfortunately, the staff weren’t around either, so I couldn’t go out on to the tarmac to get all the pictures I wanted. Oh well.

We wandered up to Fort Collins today to see the B-17 “Nine-o-nine”, the B-24 “Witchcraft” and the P-51 “Betty Jane” operated by the Collings Foundation. It was pretty cloudy this morning, but not cloudy enough to keep me from getting a pretty good sunburn. Taken with a Nikon D70s, edited with VSCO Film in Aperture.

This A-1 (originally A-2) Eaglerock (NC 1129P) is owned by Carl Williams. It was originally built in 1929 in Colorado, and was restored during a 5 1/2 year process that was completed in 1993. (Information from a note kindly taped to the propeller by the owner!)

Repairs - Fuji 400H on Flickr.
Reattaching a repaired aileron on the wing of the plane. A powerful hail storm punched a lot of holes in the cloth covered control surfaces on the plane. The B-17G “Aluminum Overcast”, operated by the Experimental Aircraft Association. This fine plane flew into Centennial Airport last week, and was on display along with quite a few jeeps and other historic military vehicles over the weekend. Unfortunately many of the plane’s control surfaces were damaged by a powerful hail storm and so were under repair over the weekend.
